DescriptionEmotions play a critical role in consumer decision-making and provide essential insights for analytics, yet accurately capturing emotional responses from text remains a major challenge. This workshop provides an overview of methods for measuring emotions in consumer-generated content, with a focus on a novel approach called NADE (Natural Affect DEtection). NADE infers emotional intensities from text by first predicting emojis and then translating them into a set of theory-grounded emotions. The session will highlight key applications in marketing research and practice, and conclude with a discussion of open questions and future research directions in the field of emotion detection.
