Optimization and Equilibrium Models for Energy and Transport

Course descriptionThis master course will cover the basics in equilibrium modeling generalizing optimization (via KKT conditions) and non-cooperative game theory.

Anticipated Schedule:
Wednesday afternoon, 28.09. (DIW Berlin), brief review of optimization problems (e.g., convexity, Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions, convexity)
Thursday morning, 29.09. (DIW Berlin), introduction to mixed complementarity problems, review of Nash equilibrium problems, examples of MCPs in energy and transport
Saturday morning 01.10. (TU Dresden), additional examples of MCPs in energy and transport
Target groupPhD students, excellent Master students with prior knowledge in optimization (operations research)
CertificatePh.D. students from the Faculty of Economics, TU Dresden can earn a certificate according to § 9 of the Ph.D. doctoral regulations (PromO 2018):
Ph.D. students of Business Management: § 9 (1) Nr. 5 or 6
Ph.D. students of Business Information Systems: § 9 (1) Nr. 6
Ph.D. students of Economics: § 9 (1) Nr. 6

Ph.D. students from other universities can earn a certificate as well.
